No quote today. I’ve spent most of my free time working on the layout of the blog and trying to get various plug-ins to work – great fun. My selection for the “Photo-a-Day: Day 2″ was pure luck. I noticed it walking past a cafeteria here at work – 30 minutes later it had been cleaned up.
I really like the reflection in the spilt coffee – I dig reflections when I can find them as they help ease the problem of filling the near and far ground with interesting subjects. The very bright cream container balances out the coffee cup which is, for the most part, darker in tone.
As per the agreements involved in the “Photo-a-Day” challenge I’ve not done anything to this image. It is a straight .jpeg from the camera set to the “monochrome” setting, no crop, no tonal adjustments, nothing.
I must admit I’m cheating a little bit right now – trying to get into the grove without setting my bar too high. The original challenge involved taking only one or two images of each scene and spot-metering only. I’m still stretching the photographic-mind-muscles right now – come January 1st I’ll adhere to the strict rules of the game.

I love the Lions at the Denver Zoo – especially the close-up viewing that is possible. Here a female looks on while a male grooms himself. Very cool.
Well, so far so good. 2 days of photos so far – let’s see what tomorrow will bring.
Cheers,
Alex
