Denver Art Museum Photography Exhibit – expanding your vision
I was, and still am, very excited that the Denver Art Museum has finally set aside space for their collection of photography. I headed down to the DAM on Friday to spend a little time with their first exhibit “Exposure: Photos from the Vault” which runs until October 31st.
Photographing Pawnee Buttes – a Denver Photowalk Group excursion
The lure of early prairie wildflowers and swaying grasses can be a frustrating call however; the buttes are not the easiest of photographic subjects. Despite the challenges the Denver Photowalk Group headed out for a sunset expedition on May 1st and, with a little luck, crafted some wonderful images.
Starting again
It has been a while since I posted anything here. You may have noticed that my “Photo-a-Day” project fell by the wayside. I’m beginning to climb back on that photographic horse so hopefully the posts will start again with more regularity and more pertinence.

The American Society of Media Photographers hosted a talk by Boyd Norton this evening at the Denver Press Club. Boyd spoke on conservation photography; his images were wonderful and inspiring. The ice is melting off of Ferril Lake in Denver’s City Park. With the melt comes the renewed opportunity of shooting reflections.

Today I photographed the tightly wrapped packages with trapped moisture. Doesn’t sound like much, but I think the images are actually quite nice.
Denver Photowalk Group – Creativity Workshop
The Denver Photowalk Group had their first Creativity Workshop yesterday at Confluence Park in Denver, Colorado. I was a great time (although I might be a little biased) and I think it was beneficial to everyone who showed up.

I’ve been think of this project for a few years. It all began seeing the shadow of a tree cast against a building’s wall by floodlights. It was eerie and stretched and, well, neat.

Today’s theme is scars on wood. I was exploring the way cracks or knot-holes disrupted the “smooth” pattern on the bark.
